Fisherman and Fish
PROJECTS

Consistent with its mission, the Foundation funds projects that aid in the formulation and establishment of sound policies and practices designed to conserve, protect, restore, and perpetuate forests, wildlife, scenic and recreational acres in North America with special regard to the State of New York.  In the past 25 years, more than 100 projects have been undertaken on topics such as controlled burning, development of acid tolerant trout strains, and the study of nesting requirements of the wild turkey.

Some additional projects that have been funded include:

-Purchase of 2,702 acres of wetland in 8 western states
-Production of films on the protection of Adirondack ecosystems and careers in fishery biology
-Conduct of programs to address accelerating species extirpation rates
-Sponsorship of workshops to further understanding of the affects on fish and wildlife from canal revitalization and wetland policies
-Sponsorship of youth education programs to assist in understanding of critical habitat fragmentation problems, stresses caused by over population and urban detachment
from basic rural resources

From Shasta Crayfish to Chautauqua Muskellunge, Peregrine Falcons to Polar Bears, Spruce Grouse to Sea Mussels, Blandings Turtles to Brook Trout, Muskrats to Moose, and from Finches to 4-H and the Boy Scouts...
The Foundation's strengths span the interests of a century of American conservation.
